BBC Women's Ministry

Women of the Word is a ministry formed to undergird and support the primary shepherding and teaching ministry at Baltimore Bible Church. We are under the authority of our pastor and elders and follow the foundations of the Philosophy of Ministry for our church.
Our mission at Baltimore Bible Church is to Find and Feed God’s sheep, and The Women’s Ministry plays a key role in fulfilling this mission. The women’s ministry is called Women of the Word (WOW) because the Word of God is the driving force behind all that we do.
Purpose Statement
W.O.W. exists to disciple women by strengthening, encouraging and helping women to mature spiritually and to foster meaningful relationships that are Christ centered.
We provide opportunities for mentorship, service, and outreach, in order to assist women in fulfilling their God given roles in their homes, the church and their communities, for the glory of God.
Ministry Objectives
1. TEACHING
To strengthen and encourage ladies to study and apply God’s Word in their daily lives, so that they may be discerning, live fruitful lives, and stand firm against false ideologies that often lead women astray (2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Tim 2:8-15; 1 Peter 3:3-6; 1 Tim 3:11; 1 Cor 11:8-9; Gen 2:18-25; Eph 6:10-13; 1 Peter 1:13-16)
To enrich each woman’s devotion to God, their marriage and/or family through the study of the Word and exposure to profitable literature
(Romans 12:1-2; Romans 6:17-18; Titus 2:1-5)
2. Mentorship
To help women understand and apply Biblical principles in their lives through example, support, and practical teaching
To help women develop character that is in conformity to a woman’s unique role as helper through small group discussion and accountability
To encourage organically formed mentor/mentee relationships
To offer opportunities for younger women to be paired up with older godly women who can encourage them in their personal walks with the Lord. (Titus 2:1-5; 1 Tim 5:14; Proverbs 31:10-31; Rom 14:19; Col 3:16)
3. Biblical Friendships
To foster an environment that provides opportunities to build meaningful godly relationships in which women devote themselves to one another, praying for one another and helping each other to grow in wisdom, godly character, and good works. (Romans 14:19; Ruth 1:16-17; Hebrews 10:24,25; Eccl 4:9-10; Prov. 27:5-6; Col 3:16)
4. Service
To provide opportunities for our ladies to use their spiritual gifts, skills, time, means, and talents to serve each other, our local body, other ministries within the church and their surrounding community. (Titus 3:14; 1 Tim 5: 9-10; Rom 16:1-6; Phil 4:2-3; Luke 8:3; Acts 9:36-39; Prov. 31:30-31; 1 Cor 16:15)
5. Outreach
To provide women with additional opportunities for outreach and evangelism by hosting an annual event geared at unbelievers, in which women can invite unbelieving friends and family members exposing them to the gospel, biblical truth, and the witness of Christian fellowship
To offer opportunities for our ladies to collectively serve and minister in and to our local community. (John 4:28-30,39; 1 Peter 2:9-12; 2 Cor 5:20; Prov 31:20; Acts 9:36-39
Ministry Gatherings
Monthly breakfasts: We meet from 8:30-10:30AM once a month during the school year. This time is set aside for testimonies, fellowship, teaching, sharing, discussion, prayer, bible reading and worship through song. The Bible teaching has an expositional approach and focuses on issues that pertain to women. This year we are studying the book of James.
- Special Events: Periodically, the WOW ministry hosts special events geared at serving families, BBC ministries and our current missionaries
- Intentional Service: As God provides opportunity, the WOW ministry participates in service projects geared at serving families and ministries in our local body as well as our missionaries
In John 11:25-26, Jesus asked Martha a question that every woman needs to be able to answer for herself. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”” Do you? It is our joy and hope that the women of Baltimore and beyond would believe in Christ and live. Please, take time to read the great news of how you can not only know about God, but know Him personally.
