The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word:
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy Bride;
From The Church’s One Foundation
Jesus left his throne on high to redeem His holy church and make us His bride. Throughout the history of mankind, the union of husband and wife has been an earthly picture of this cosmic reality. This weekend, many of us were able to witness this beautiful image as Riley took Brenda to be his wife. What a great and joyful celebration, reflecting Christ’s union with the Church.
Every day we follow Christ, the Spirit prepares us through sanctification for that glorious wedding that awaits us. Though we are far from being His perfect bride today, we will one day be glorified into our heavenly form.
When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus
we’ll sing and shout the victory.
From When we all get to heaven
Until then, we can rest in the fact that Jesus, our bridegroom, is our rock throughout the ages and will stand firm through all of life’s storms. As we wait patiently for that day, we continually cry out to Him…
Jesus, Master, I am yours;
keep me faithful, keep me near;
as your radiance through me pours
all my homeward way to cheer.
Jesus, at your feet I fall.
O be now my all in all!
From Jesus, Master, Whose I am
May we be faithful to the things he has called us to, drawing near to him each day, trusting that it is He alone that will do this sanctifying work in us….until that wedding day.
